Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of fresh autologous platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) in the treatment of sinus wounds. Methods A total of 60 patients with sinus wounds treated at BenQ Medical Center Affiliated to NanjingMedical University, from January 2023 to January 2024 were selected. After preparing the patients and wound bed, the pre-treatment depth of the sinus was measured and recorded. Fresh autologous PRF was then used to fill the sinus, and the dressing was changed weekly until the wound healed. The depth of the sinus, healing rate, and healing time were observed on 7, 14, 21, and 28 days after treatment. Results The pre-treatment depth of the sinus was (2.65±0.91) cm. The sinus depths at 7, 14, 21, and 28 days after treatment with fresh autologous PRF were (1.09±0.69) cm, (0.68±0.47) cm, (0.40±0.17) cm, and (0.23±0.06) cm, respectively. The sinus depth gradually decreased with increasing treatment duration, and the difference was statistically significant (F=46.432, P＜0.05). The healing rates at 7, 14, 21, and 28 days after treatment were 5.00% (3/60), 51.67% (31/60), 95.00% (57/60), and 95.00% (57/60), respectively. The healing rate increased progressively with prolonged treatment time, and the trend was statistically significant (trend χ²= 31.76, P＜0.05). A total of 57 cases healed within 28 days of intervention, with a healing time of (15.50±5.49) days. Conclusion Fresh autologous PRF is beneficial for the healing of sinus wounds. A treatment period of approximately 21days is required to achieve optimal results.
