Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical practice of implementing team collaboration surgery models and enhanced recovery after surgery（ERAS）concept for complex surgeries in Chinese Medical Aid Teams under the condition of relatively underdeloped medical resources in Africa. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 13 patients who underwent complex surgeries performed by the 34th China（Jiangsu）Medical Team assisting Zanzibar from October 2024 to March 2025. The surgeries included 2 cases of liver cancer resection，1 case of radical resection of hilar cholangiocarcinoma，4 cases of nephrectomy or partial nephrectomy，2 cases of combined nephrectomy and adrenalectomy，1 case of radical resection of ovarian cancer，1 case of splenectomy for megalosplenia，1 case of retroperitoneal tumor resection，and 1 case of combined resection of the liver，kidney，and other organs. Laparoscopic surgery was performed in 6 cases，and traditional open surgery was performed in 7 cases. All patients underwent surgery using the team collaboration model，and the ERAS concept was adopted for their perioperative management.Results All patients successfully completed the surgery. The operation time ranged from 120 to 270（158.5 ± 46.9） minutes. The intraoperative blood loss ranged from 100 to 900（384.6 ± 207.5）mL. The postoperative hospital stay ranged from 5 to 13（7.3 ± 2.3）days. One patient who underwent combined organ resection developed right pleural effusion postoperatively，and the remaining patients recovered smoothly. There was no complication such as bleeding or infection during the hospital stay. Conclusion The team collaboration surgical model and the perioperative management of ERAS demonstrate safety，reliability，and high efficiency in African region with relatively under developed medical resources，making it worthy of promotion.
