Abstract:The digestive system is one of the most diverse and complex systems in the human body，with over 80% of the body , s microbiota residing in the gastrointestinal tract. The gut microbiota plays crucial roles in digesting food ，absorbing nutrients， maintaining normal intestinal motility，promoting immune function，and inhibiting tumor development. Due to the unique anatomical structure of the digestive system，the gut microbiota is susceptible to various factors that can reduce beneficial bacteria and increase harmful bacteria，leading to microbial imbalance. Dysbiosis of the gut microbiota can result in digestive disorders such as constipation， diarrhea，chronic gastritis ，inflammatory bowel disease（IBD），and irritable bowel syndrome（IBS）， as well as extraintestinal diseases. Fecal microbiota transplantation（FMT）is a therapeutic approach that involves transferring functional microbiota from healthy donors into a patient,s gastrointestinal tract to restore and maintain microbial balance，thereby improving the patient,s quality of life. This review summarizes the applications ofFMT in treating intestinal diseases.
