Abstract:Objective To explore the efficacy of nebulized lidocaine combined with budesonide for alleviating post -tonsillectomy pain and the sensation of a foreign body in the throat. Methods A total of 80 patients who underwent plasma tonsillectomy at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital from December 2024 to April 2025 were selected. The patients were randomly divided into four groups：Group A（lidocaine combined with budesonide inhalation），Group B（budesonide inhalation），Group C（lidocaine inhalation），and Group D（saline inhalation），with 20 patients in each group. The general data of the patients in each group were collected，and pain scores were recorded using the Visual Analog Scale（VAS）at 6 hours，12 hours，24 hours，48 hours，and 72 hours postoperatively. The total effective rate of alleviating the sensation of a foreign body in the throat at 24 hours postoperatively was compared among the four groups.Results VAS scores at different postoperative time points showed statistically significant differences in terms of group effects，time effects，and interaction effects（P<0.05）. There was no significant difference in VAS pain scores at 6hours postoperatively between the groups（P>0.05）. At 12 hours，24 hours，48 hours，and 72 hours postoperatively，the VAS pain scores in Groups A，B，and C were significantly lower than those in Group D（P<0.05）. The total effective rate for alleviating the sensation of a foreign body in the throat at 24 hours postoperatively showed a statistically significant difference among the four groups［100.00%（20/20）vs 90.00%（18/20）vs 85.00%（17/20）vs 25.00%（5/20），χ2=36.800，P<0.01］，with the total effective rates in Group A，Group B，and Group C being higher than in Group D（P<0.01）. Conclusion Lidocaine combined with budesonide inhalation reduces tonsillectomy pain postoperatively，and the sensation of a foreign body in the throat effectively.
